Domestic Abuse Awareness: A Foundation in Coercive Control

This beginner level/refresher training will help delegates to identify coercive and controlling behaviours and consider the impact of living with abuse from a partner, ex-partner or family member.

Delegates will explore the tactics that perpetrators often use to create dependency, manipulate and control the victim/survivor. It will give housing practitioners the confidence to identify coercive control and pass concerns on to specialist response teams.  All attendees will also receive a delegate pack which includes information from the course and a list of specialist toolkits and national domestic abuse support lines.

This course covers:

• Definition and prevalence of domestic abuse
• Dynamics of coercive control
• Impacts of abuse and the risks around leaving

Please note: This course forms Module 1 of all our Role Specific training to ensure all teams have a strong foundational knowledge of coercive control.  It does not cover the skills frontline teams need to ask, validate, assess and take action once they have identified domestic abuse.

Please note – This is a domestic abuse awareness course. If you have a customer facing role, DAHA recommend that you also attend training that will give you the skills, tools and confidence to ask, assess and take action when identifying and responding to domestic abuse.

All fees are for up to 20 delegates (minimum 6 delegates to run a course).

DAHA prefer to cap attendance at 20 to ensure all delegates feel able to fully engage. However, we can accommodate a maximum of 5 additional delegates upon request. Each additional delegate will incur a fee of £75.
